Wear These Now

Wear skirts that show some leg. If you have an hourglass figure wear full skirts with an A-line cut. Balance it out with a slim fitting tank or top and heels. If you have a straight boy shaped figure wear mini-skirts with pleats or ruffles giving your lower body a boost. Pair it with flats for an easy chic look. If you have a curvy figure wear body hugging pencil skirts that hit at the knee. Keep it sexy with a thin cardigan and heels.

The 2009 Autum/Winter collections of the Japan Fashion Week started in Tokyo on 23th of March. But instead of known names, there are also quite a few new ones this season… YUKI TORII, THEATRE PRODUCTS, MOTONARI ONO, Né-net, matohu, KAMISHIMA CHINAMI etc. Some of our members created some awsome selections inspired by the Tokyo Fashion Week!

What is in for men this Spring/Summer? Classic stylish suits with nice-looking shirts, ties and dressy shoes will look great at dinner or the office. Almost all colors are in style this season from dark to bright tones. Wide pants are in style, in both suits and casual pants. Dinner Jackets are also very trendy right now. Look for satin stripes, peaked lapels, and satin notched jackets. Vests are back in fashion, you can find them in all different kinds of fabrics: satin, wool, jersey, etc. Ties are in style, for this trend you don’t have to wear a tie with a suit. Wear them with button down colored shirts, vests, and khakis to create a casual put together look. Another trend is shorts or cutoffs, you can find them in various styles, different lengths and diverse colors.

On a budget? You can look great without spending a lot of money. Buy cheap bling, bold statement pieces from budget-friendly stores like Forever 21 or Charlotte Russe are a great way to jazz up any outfit. Find funky shoes, fun platforms can change a look instantly, try brands like BCBGirls, Nine West, or Vernice. Scour vintage shops, pick pieces that have great patterns, even if the cut is outdated. You can always cut off the sleeves or alter the cut.

Fashion in Spring/Summer 2009 is cultured and world-wise. As well as the Grecian and Roman-inspired gowns comes a whole range of exotic and ethnic trends. From tribal-infused prints, to turbans, to flowing kaftans and crisp safari suits… if it evokes a feeling of the exotic and the adventurous, it fits with the 2009 style mindset.

What is going to be hot for spring? Here are some new trends. Mini florals will be in, pretty flower bud print tops, skirts, dresses, shoes, and bags.
Hobo bags are also in style. The slouchy shape is relaxed and casual, but the sturdy leather and special detail give these bags a pulled-together look.
Ruffles will still be in style, girlie pale frills in sophisticated cascades are fun and flirty to wear. The utilitarian look is also in for spring in browns, crèmes, reds, and oranges. Look for uniform details, cargo pockets, zippers and crease-proof fabrics. Neon is going to be hot. Shocking bright colors in chic shapes, mix them with denim or khaki for a fun new look. Cool colors will be in style, surf and sand shades will be everywhere this spring.

Ratings were up for the 2009 Oscars. The host Hugh Jackman was funny, charming and of course nice to look at. On the red carpet two ladies definitely stood out and looked absolutely beautiful. Our favorites were Anne Hathaway in a Giorgio Armani sparkling swarovski crystal gown and Penelope Cruz in a vintage Balmain Haute Couture dress that looked like a bridal gown of lace and chiffon. The two ladies that we thought had the worst look were Jessica Biel in a frumpy creme colored Prada gown with giant folds and Beyonce in one of her own fashion labels, House of Dereon Couture gowns in black and gaudy gold brocade. She looked stiff and uncomfortable.
